Search Engine Optimization is a technique of optimizing the search engine i.e. in simple words we are making the search engine (Google, Bing, Baidu, etc..) to understand the content in your website.

For example, if you enter into your account of Facebook, the page title will be displayed as Facebook. Hence choose the page title related to that particular webpage in your website. Keep your page title between 50-60 characters, if you do so 95% of your text displays properly. It helps the search engine that what your webpage contains. For example, if someone is searching for “3 BHK residential house in Chennai” means the keywords which can be declared in the meta form are “house”, “house in Chennai”, “home in Chennai”, “3 BHK in Chennai”, “residential properties in Chennai”, etc. Ensure that you are giving the relative keyword to the object (or) item in the webpage. Give your website name in the keywords too so that it helps the website to come front in the rankings.
Description is the precise information about the particular website. Here I like to show the example of Amazon . The page title was Amazon and the description in the Google Search results was “Online Shopping India – Buy mobiles, laptops, cameras, books, watches, apparel, shoes and e-Gift Cards. Free Shipping & Cash on Delivery”. Here the description clearly explains that Amazon was a Online Shopping portal. So always the meta description should give a concise information about the website. It gets displayed below the website name in the search results. Hence always give a priority to the description because the unknown users (or) new users can obtain the information of your website by that description. It can be of any length but the search engine mostly truncates it to 160 characters limit. so give your best description (or) caching description within these characters for your website.
In simple words, URL is an address to the internet for a website. The URL should be as short as possible because it can be easily remembered and the URL should be related to your website. If the URL was long, please proceed that with the hyphen. For example, this is the example of a clear URL http://websitename/Page name
I believe you can understand what it means by seeing the URL itself. So always give the chance to the user to understand what your website is about. Use the Search console tool if you required the bot to Crawl and un-crawl the certain url.
If you are launching a website newly means, it requires some time and in-fact more time to be get appeared on the top of the search results. Create the pages in the social networks like Facebook, Google plus, Twitter, etc… for your website (or) Company. Promote your company name (or) the website name to reach the common ordains (or) users. If you are enough with the amount on the bank then even promote through the Google ad-words, Ad-roll and so many platforms are there to promote the advertisements about your company (or) website by Images. By this you can get the more visitors (or) users to your website.

There should be always a healthy competition to improve. So keep the eye on your competitor’s website that how they are driving the traffic to their website and learn how they are ahead above you.
If you want Your website to be top ranked than your competitor then ensure that you are using the same technology as that of the competitor. If you get the source to apply the advanced technology then apply that before your competitor. The person who drives first will win the race. SEO is not a just like thing and it requires time and passion to do it.
